Salaga, Northern Region, Ghana – July 17, 2025- As the curtain rises on PANAFEST and Emancipation 2025, a key moment of collaboration unfolded in Salaga with a courtesy call on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the East Gonja Municipal Assembly, Hon. Kasim Rabiu Yazid. The visit was led by a high-powered delegation from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts (MoTCCA), the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), affiliated agencies, and representatives of the Diaspora.
This strategic engagement marks an important milestone in the lead-up to the annual celebration, providing a platform for dialogue around the upcoming Slave Route Pilgrimage and related commemorative activities.
In the meeting, both the historical weight and contemporary relevance of PANAFEST and Emancipation were emphasized. Stakeholders reaffirmed their shared vision of using these events not only to honour the enduring legacy of African resilience and freedom but also to spotlight Ghana’s continuing commitment to heritage preservation and global cultural connection.
Hon. Kasim Rabiu Yazid expressed his full support for the events and welcomed the inclusive approach. He highlighted Salaga’s historical importance as a former slave market and its role in strengthening the depth of the national commemoration.
The visit underscored the unified effort of government institutions, local authorities, and the global African family in making PANAFEST and Emancipation 2025 a transformative and memorable celebration.
