Accra, Ghana — Hon Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, has inaugurated a new board for the National Theatre, charging its members to collaborate with the Executive Director in rejuvenating the institution’s operations and cultural programming. The inauguration was part of efforts to renew efforts by the Ministry to revitalize one of Ghana’s key cultural assets.
Expressing appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for selecting a capable and visionary team, the Minister said she is confident that the newly constituted board would set the National Theatre on a more vibrant and impactful course. She highlighted the importance of teamwork in realizing the goals of the Executive Director and transforming the theatre’s offerings.
The board is chaired by Korkor Amarteifio and includes Henry Herbert Malm, Executive Director of the National Theatre; Sylvanus Korshie Kuwor, Ph.D, Dean of the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana; Prof. Samuel Aniegye Ntewusu, Director of the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana; Esther Yayra Attipoe, Esq.; Nii-Tete Yartey; Rev. Hedwig Naa Tolloo Quist, Jordan Kofi Norshie; and Aku Dzifa Florence Glikpoe.
Officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts were present and led by Chief Director, Mr. Joseph Kwasi Amoah. The inauguration ceremony signifies a strategic turning point for the National Theatre, aiming to reinvigorate its status as a premier venue for artistic expression and cultural dialogue.
