Accra, Ghana, July 20, 2026 – The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has officially taken possession of the former Ministry of Finance Annex Building following a formal handing-over ceremony held at the facility in Accra.
Representing the Minister for Finance, Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem, the Deputy Minister for Finance noted that although the Ministry of Finance had a continued need for office accommodation, government recognized the strategic importance of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts in driving economic growth through tourism and therefore allocated the facility to support its operations.
He disclosed that the annex building, constructed in 2007, comprises 97 offices and three conference rooms, together with furniture and other equipment, all of which are being handed over to the Ministry, adding that the building is being renovated at the Ministry of Finance’s expense to ensure a smooth transition and revealed that government intends to increase budgetary support for the tourism sector in subsequent fiscal years in recognition of its immense contribution to national development.
Receiving the facility on behalf of the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Deputy Minister, Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah, expressed profound appreciation to the Ministry of Finance for what he described as a thoughtful gesture that reflects government’s commitment to strengthening the sector.
The Deputy Minister noted that the handing over represented more than the transfer of a physical structure, describing it as an investment in the future of the Ministry that would significantly enhance its operational capacity and improve service delivery. He assured the Ministry of Finance that the facility would be properly maintained and effectively utilized to advance the Ministry’s mandate of promoting tourism, preserving Ghana’s cultural heritage and developing the creative arts sector.
Hon. Jajah also encouraged staff of the Ministry and its agencies to regard the new working environment as a source of renewed motivation, urging them to demonstrate greater professionalism, innovation, dedication and excellence in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Delivering the welcome statement on behalf of the Chief Director of the Ministry of Finance, the Coordinating Director (Operations), Mr. David Klotey Collison, said the handing over formed part of the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring the efficient management and optimal utilization of government assets. He expressed confidence that the facility would provide an enabling environment for the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts to effectively deliver on its mandate, while commending the collaborative efforts of officials from both Ministries in making the transition successful.
The ceremony concluded with the symbolic presentation of the keys and signing of documents marking the successful transfer of the building. Officials and staff from both Ministries, Heads of Agencies and Directors were present to witness the formal transfer of the facility, which forms part of government’s efforts to strengthen public institutions and enhance the utilization of state assets.
