Accra, Ghana, July 27, 2026 – The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie alongside her Deputy Yussif Issaka Jajah today paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Sharon Dede Padi at her residence in Accra to commiserate with them following her passing.
Leading a delegation from the Ministry, Hon. Gomashie expressed her heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, describing the late Sharon Dede Padiki Padi as a passionate and dedicated young woman whose contributions to Ghana’s Creative and hospitality sector left a lasting impact.
The Minister noted that although her association with the late Sharon was relatively recent, her commitment, energy and enthusiasm was evident in every assignment she undertook. She recalled that the Ministry consistently involved her in programmes because of her professionalism and passion for promoting Ghana’s Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Sector.
Hon. Gomashie acknowledged the profound loss suffered not only by the family but also by the tourism industry and the nation at large, encouraging the family to draw strength and comfort during this difficult period. She assured them of the Ministry’s continued support and indicated that the Ministry would join the tourism fraternity in giving Sharon a fitting farewell.
The family expressed their sincere appreciation to the Hon. Minister and her delegation for the thoughtful visit and words of comfort. They informed the delegation that the funeral of the late Sharon Dede Padiki Padi has been scheduled for September 26, 2026, at the Forecourt of the State House, adding that the Ministry would be duly informed of all subsequent funeral arrangements.
As part of her visit, the Minister and her delegation paid a courtesy call on the management of the Accra Technical University (ATU), where they were received by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Amevi Acakpovi, and management of the University.
According to Prof. Amevi Acakpovi, the late Sharon Dede Padiki Padi was a promising young professional whose passion, creativity and contributions to Ghana’s tourism and hospitality industry left a lasting impact. He noted that her sudden passing came as a shock to the university community, particularly after reports of her recovery, and assured the bereaved family of the university’s continued support.
Prof. Acakpovi also expressed appreciation to the Ministry for the visit and commended its growing collaboration with ATU, highlighting the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), ongoing joint initiatives, and the development of specialized hospitality training programmes aimed at strengthening manpower development for Ghana’s tourism sector.
The Hon. Minister was accompanied by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mr. Joseph K. Amoah; Directors and staff of the Ministry, the Executive Director of the National Theatre of Ghana, Mr. Henry Herbert Malm, and representatives of the National Commission on Culture.
