Accra, Ghana – July 15, 2025 — Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to cultural diplomacy and global peace during a meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Ali Ghomshi.
The discussion touched on strengthening the Ghana tourism agenda under the new leadership, with Hon. Gomashie pledging her support for initiatives promoting sustainable tourism. She also revealed plans to visit Iraq following an invitation encouraged by Iraq’s Foreign Minister, signaling Ghana’s broader engagement with international partners.
Addressing global tensions, Hon. Gomashie voiced concerns about rising aggression by powerful nations and its toll on vulnerable populations and extended condolences to affected civilians as she called for diplomacy over conflict
Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie expressed enthusiasm about re-engaging at a policy level, including plans to renew a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focused on crafts and cultural heritage. She highlighted the growing significance of cultural tourism, stressing its power to attract visitors and foster cross-cultural understanding.
Ambassador Ghomshi echoed Iran’s commitment to cultural engagement, stating that despite regional conflicts, Iran remains dedicated to strengthening ties through education, literature, tourism, and diplomacy.
Both parties underscored the importance of cultural exchange and cooperation as key pillars for building mutual understanding and sustainable development.
This meeting was attended by the Chief Director of the Ministry Mr. Joseph Kwasi Amoah, Dr. Jeoffrey Tamakloe, Director =Tourism, Mr. Divine Owusu Ansah, Director Arts and Culture and Mr. Kofi Ohene Benning, Director =Finance and Administration.
