Nationals of ECOWAS member states and other countries with which the Government of Ghana has specific bilateral agreements are exempted.<\/p>\n<h4>Entry Conditions<\/h4>\n<p>Subject to the conditions of the Immigration Act any person who is seeing to enter into Ghana;<br \/>\na) Must be in possession of a valid passport or other travel document and valid visa to enter Ghana where applicable.<br \/>\nb) Must have been exempted from obtaining a visa to enter Ghana.<br \/>\nc) Must have his name endorsed upon a visa and is in the company of the holder or the visa.<br \/>\nd) Must have applied and been granted an emergency entry permit ; or<br \/>\ne) Must have been admitted to diplomatic status by the Government of Ghana.<\/p>\n<h4>Visa (Regulation 4(I) (D) Of L.I. 1691)<\/h4>\n<p>A visa may be obtained from Ghana Embassies\/High Commissions, Consulates or other Embassies authorized by the Government of Ghana to issue visas on her behalf.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency Entry Permit valid for 14 days may be obtained where on application has been filed on behalf of the foreign national by other national\u2019s host with the Director of Immigration indicating;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Personal details including nationality ,place of residence in Ghana;Occupation or business to be followed or undertaken while Ghana;<br \/>\n\u2022 Particulars of passport;<br \/>\n\u2022 Proposed date of arrival;<br \/>\n\u2022 Purpose of visit and duration of stay;<br \/>\n\u2022 A statement to the effect that the applicant will not undertake or participate in any activities which might offend the religious beliefs or any section of the community;<br \/>\n\u2022 In case of a passenger passing through Ghana ,route to be followed; and<br \/>\n\u2022 An undertaken by the applicant to return any pass granted.<br \/>\n\u2022 Has had a security furnished by bond, deposit or a letter of guarantee by the person who guarantees the foreign national visit.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>a) Please note that applicants must satisfy the conditions that the distance between their place of abode and the Ghana Consular office should be such that the impromptu nature of your journey could not make it possible for them to travel to the office for a visa;<br \/>\nb) That the applicant (s) is proceeding to Ghana at a short notice for business transactions;<br \/>\nc) That the applicant is a guest of the Government or a member of a delegation which is coming to Ghana at the instance of the Government at short notice, or<br \/>\nd) That the entry permit of an applicant who is a person resident in Ghana has expired while the applicant was outside Ghana.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Visa Information<\/h4>\n<h5>Visitors<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Having obtained the requisite visa, visitors must satisfy the Immigration officer on arrival that;<\/p>\n<p>i. He is genuinely seeking entry for a limited period as stated by him.<br \/>\nii. He will leave Ghana at the end of the period granted him.<br \/>\niii. He will not take up any employment while on visitor\u2019s permit.<br \/>\niv. He does not intend studying in any school.<br \/>\nv. He will not be of public charge.<\/p>\n<p>Before his entry is allowed at the point of entry a maximum of 60 days stay (90 days in the Case of ECOWAS nationals) is granted. The extension of the duration of the stay is allowed provided that the approving officer is convinced that conditions set above have been met.<\/p>\n<h4>Procedure for Extension of Stay<\/h4>\n<p>Visitors may abide by the following procedure in their application for extension or stay.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Completion of the requisite application forms obtained from the Immigration Headquarters or the nearest Regional Commands of the Service.<br \/>\n\u2022 Provision of two current passport-sized photographs.<br \/>\n\u2022 An application letter from those who wish to stay for a period more than 3 months stating reason (s) for the request.<br \/>\n\u2022 Provision of a valid return ticket or any form of guarantee that the visitor will leave the country at the end of the period requested for.<br \/>\n\u2022 Provision of documentary evidence of intent to invest in Ghana (applicable to would-be investors only).<br \/>\n\u2022 Provision of a valid passport; and<br \/>\n\u2022 The payment of the requisite processing fee.<br \/>\nPlease note that employment is restricted while on visitor\u2019s permit.<\/p>\n<h4>Emergency Entry Visa \/Visa on Arrival<\/h4>\n<h5>Visa on Arrival<\/h5>\n<p>The Ghana Immigration Service has introduced this visa policy to cater for visitors\/business people who travel at short notice from countries where Ghana has no mission or consulate. The policy authorizes visas to be granted on arrival at the airport or other entry points subject to satisfaction of specific Immigration requirements.<\/p>\n<h4>Requirement for Emergency Entry Visa<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>An application letter from the host, stating where the traveler is coming from (If the host is a Company\/Organization, it must be on a letterhead).<br \/>\n\u2022 State where the traveler is going to lodge.<br \/>\n\u2022 How the traveler is entering the country (KIA, Aflao, Elubo, or Paga).<br \/>\n\u2022 How long the traveler is going to stay.<br \/>\n\u2022 A photocopy of the traveler\u2019s passport (Biodata page).For further information please visit:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/home.gis.gov.gh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.ghanaimmigration.org\/index.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1553359065823000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEsTgfo0S5OkUpNPTr476dJWL2ONw\">gis.gov.gh<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"sow-tabs-panel\">\n\t\t\t<div\n\t\t\t\tclass=\"sow-tabs-panel-content\"\n\t\t\t\trole=\"tabpanel\"\n\t\t\t\taria-hidden=\"true\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t<h4>What to Pack for Ghana<\/h4>\n<p>The following is a typical list of what might be required while you are in Ghana. If you are not traveling in a private car, then be certain to pack light.<\/p>\n<h5>Bags<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Soft hold-all bag for excursions<\/li>\n<li>Smaller travel\/overnight bag or daypack for traveling<\/li>\n<li>Lightweight backpack if traveling via public transit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are both prepaid and postpaid options for mobile phones, which you are free to choose between, depending on your consumption wants and needs. Some operators also offer international packages for expats to phone abroad.<\/p>\n<h5>Toiletries<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant (not antiperspirant), shaver, brush &amp; comb, moisturizing cream, decongestant, anti-fungal.<\/li>\n<li>Sunscreen lotion\/sun block, lip-aid and floss: These are particularly difficult to obtain in Ghana.<\/li>\n<li>Prescription drugs\/small private medical kit (pain killers, plasters, anti-septic spray) \/ contraceptives \/ tampons<\/li>\n<li>Contact lenses \/ lens fluid \/ spare glasses<\/li>\n<li>Malaria tablets<\/li>\n<li>Insect repellent (containing DEET is best)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Papers<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Passport \/ visas \/ travel documents<\/li>\n<li>Pen \/ notebook \/ travel diary<\/li>\n<li>Books \/ reference books \/ magazines \/ games to use during long siesta hours or delays<\/li>\n<li>Cash in Cedis for personal expenses, tips &amp; gratuities. Travelers\u2019 cheques and credit cards are difficult to use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Hardware<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Flashlight or head lamp \/ 2 sets of batteries<\/li>\n<li>Camera equipment \/ extra lithium batteries<\/li>\n<li>Dust-free camera bag&nbsp; (Zip-lock bag is fine)<\/li>\n<li>Extra battery, solar charger for phone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>International packages<\/h5>\n<p>Some providers offer a special contract to include international phone calls. This may really appeal to expatriates, as the Telcos offer an international roaming offer, that you can subscribe to by calling a certain number.<\/p>\n<p>The Telcos may offer a special service for international subscribers, which offers a lower price for communication to certain countries (including the UK, France, and the USA). This allows the subscriber to pay discounted prices per minute, and to receive discounts on their mobile phone. There are also international packs, which contain a set number of free\/low-priced minutes, and are valid for a limited amount of time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"sow-tabs-panel\">\n\t\t\t<div\n\t\t\t\tclass=\"sow-tabs-panel-content\"\n\t\t\t\trole=\"tabpanel\"\n\t\t\t\taria-hidden=\"true\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"column-wrap-id-1566069976524\" class=\"sppb-col-md-3\">\n<div id=\"column-id-1566069976524\" class=\"sppb-column\">\n<div class=\"sppb-column-addons\">\n<div id=\"sppb-addon-1566069976525\" class=\"clearfix\">\n<div class=\"sppb-addon sppb-addon-text-block 0 \">\n<div class=\"sppb-addon-content\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>There are currently three (3) main mobile phone providers in Ghana including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mtn.com.gh\/Default.aspx?pageid=298\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MTN Ghana<\/a> has about 57% of the market share<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vodafone.com.gh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vodafone<\/a>, about 22% of market share<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.airteltigo.com.gh\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Airteltigo\/Glo<\/a>, about 21% of market share<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"column-wrap-id-1566069976526\" class=\"sppb-col-md-3\">\n<div id=\"column-id-1566069976526\" class=\"sppb-column\">\n<div class=\"sppb-column-addons\">\n<div id=\"sppb-addon-1566069976527\" class=\"clearfix\">\n<div class=\"sppb-addon sppb-addon-text-block 0 \">\n<div class=\"sppb-addon-content\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<h4>Prepaid option<\/h4>\n<p>The prepaid option generally requires you to buy a mobile phone and sim card for an affordable price and to top up the credit when you need to. This appears to be the cheapest option, however, it includes an obligation to top up regularly, in order for your number to remain active. This validity period is normally 90 days.<\/p>\n<p>Not all services are free of charge, and you may be charged from the phone credit that you have. It is advisable to know and understand which services are free or not.<\/p>\n<p>A cheaper option may be to buy a low-cost mobile phone and sim package (e.g. MTN offers packages for less than GH\u00a2150 ($20 USD; \u20ac19 EUR). This phone will have limited costly services available and saves you from using the mobile from your previous country. You can purchase a cheap mobile phone in any phone store, where you will be asked to provide details such as identity, nationality, and age.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"column-wrap-id-1566069976528\" class=\"sppb-col-md-3\">\n<div id=\"column-id-1566069976528\" class=\"sppb-column\">\n<div class=\"sppb-column-addons\">\n<div id=\"sppb-addon-1566069976529\" class=\"clearfix\">\n<div class=\"sppb-addon sppb-addon-text-block 0 \">\n<div class=\"sppb-addon-content\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<h4>Postpaid option<\/h4>\n<p>A basic mobile contract can be signed at one of the operator\u2019s retail stores, or even on the internet. The phone can be obtained at the same time as the contract is signed. As an expatriate, extra documents may be required, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A residence visa\/permit<\/li>\n<li>Proof of your identity<\/li>\n<li>Proof of billing address<\/li>\n<li>A bank statement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The monthly fee for a postpaid contract depends on your consumption.
