Minister-Designate for Tourism, Arts and Culture and Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer has lauded the unwavering commitment of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and its partners for the challenging work, in promoting tourism in Ghana; evidence of its growing space since The Year of Return in 2019.<\/p>\n
He made these remarks at the launch of the first ever Ghana Culinary Festival dubbed \u201cFeast Ghana\u201d at the Accra Tourists Information Centre (ATIC) on Wednesday 17th April 2024.<\/p>\n
More precisely, he doffed his hat to the ladies club of GTA for the \u201cRep your region\u201d initiative that showcased various delicacies of our diverse culture, and the need for tourists to embrace it as part of the travel-to-Ghana cultural journey.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn recent years, culinary tourism has experienced exponential growth on a global scale,\u201d Hon Mercer said. \u201cAccording to the latest data, culinary tourism has been identified as one of the fastest-growing segments of the travel industry, with a projected annual growth rate of over 25%\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n
Feast Ghana has the potential to harness the global momentum and showcase the rich tapestry of flavours and traditions that define Ghanaian cuisine. Whether it is Banku, Fufu, Waakye, Tuo zaafi, Ga Kenkey, or any indigenous meal, Ghana has much to offer visitors.<\/p>\n
