Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has called on professionals in Ghana\u2019s confectionery industry to leverage their creativity and growing platforms to promote healthier eating habits among the public.<\/p>\n<p>She made this appeal during a courtesy visit by a delegation of cake designers and dessert artisans led by Witney Boakye Mensah. The delegation briefed the Minister on their upcoming event\u2014a confectionery festival scheduled for June 15, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Hon. Gomashie commended the group for their initiative and highlighted the importance of aligning artistic expression with social responsibility, particularly in areas related to food and public health.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour work is deeply appreciated,\u201d she stated. \u201cBut I also urge you to use this platform to encourage healthy eating. Consider incorporating local raw materials such as cassava, sweet potatoes, and other Ghanaian staples into your creations. It\u2019s a way to celebrate our culture while also promoting wellness and supporting our local farmers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The upcoming festival aims to spotlight the artistic and cultural significance of Ghana\u2019s confectionery sector, showcasing the innovation and craftsmanship behind cake design and dessert creation. Ms. Boakye Mensah noted that although Ghana hosts many cultural events, none have yet focused exclusively on the creative potential of confectionery arts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis festival will be the first of its kind dedicated to cake lovers and artisans,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s an opportunity to demonstrate that cake can be more than just a dessert\u2014it can also serve as a medium for storytelling and cultural expression.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Devine Kwame Owusu Ansah, Director of Culture and Creative Arts, received the group on behalf of the Ministry.
