Accra, Ghana \u2013 May 23, 2025 \u2014 The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts today organized an intensive orientation program for newly appointed heads of agencies and their deputies. The initiative aims to equip the new leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively steer their institutions and align their work with the government\u2019s national development agenda.
\nThe training session covered a broad range of topics including public service regulations, operational guidelines, and organizational values. The goal is to help the new appointees gain a deeper understanding of their responsibilities and the framework within which they operate.
\nIn her opening remarks, the sector Minister, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie emphasized the importance of the orientation, reflecting on her own early days in public service.
\n\u201cWhen I joined the civil service, there were a lot of things I didn\u2019t understand, and it wasn\u2019t a pleasant experience,\u201d she said. \u201cThis orientation is designed to ensure that our new leaders are not left to figure things out the hard way. We want to equip them with the right foundation to lead effectively and to serve with purpose.\u201d
\nThe Minister underscored that the orientation is part of a broader strategy to enhance leadership across the sector and to improve the delivery of government programs.
\nResource persons for the program were drawn from key institutions including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the Public Services Commission, and the Office of the Head of Civil Service. These experts provided valuable insights into public sector operations, leadership expectations, and inter-agency collaboration.
\nThe orientation also provided an opportunity for networking and knowledge sharing among the new agency heads and their deputies, fostering a spirit of cooperation and mutual support.<\/p>\n
