Accra, June 16, 2025 \u2013 The Culture and Creative Arts Committee, chaired by NanaHemaa Adjoa Awindor, a renowned television host and a Development Queenmother of Afigya-Kwabre in the Ashanti Region has held its maiden stakeholder engagement at the Accra Tourist Information Centre (ATIC), setting the stage for a nationwide cultural revival and the forthcoming National Cultural and Creative Sector Stakeholder Forum.<\/p>\n
Describing the session as \u201cthe beginning of a movement,\u201d NanaHemaa called for renewed commitment to reposition Ghana\u2019s cultural and creative sector for national development. She emphasized the need to overcome past inertia and divisions, urging stakeholders to rebuild confidence and champion innovation.<\/p>\n
Key themes outlined included integrating culture into national development planning, reforming policy and legal frameworks, promoting indigenous languages and heritage, and creating a dynamic, inclusive space for all creatives. Participants raised concerns about politicization within the sector, the need for financial inclusion, and greater recognition of women\u2019s contributions.<\/p>\n
Mr. Divine Kwame Owusu Ansah, Director of Culture and Creative Arts at the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, who represented the sector Minister, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie. reaffirmed the Ministry\u2019s commitment to restoring and strengthening the sector through collaborative engagement.<\/p>\n
As the Committee moves to establish subcommittees and broaden participation, the Chairperson underscored the need for unity: \u201cNo single voice can carry the full song of Ghana\u2019s cultural future\u2026 it must be a chorus of many.\u201d
