\n\u201cWhen we support our creatives, we grow here\u2014and we rise together.\u201d These were the words of the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, as she honoured Ghanaian makeup artist Roselyn Akosua Mantey for setting a Guinness World Record.<\/p>\n
Roselyn achieved the remarkable feat of applying makeup to over 120 people in five days, with only brief five-minute breaks between sessions. At a ceremony held in her honour, the Minister hailed her as a symbol of Ghanaian resilience, talent, and innovation. \u201cYou\u2019ve earned not only the Guinness record but our admiration,\u201d Hon. Gomashie said.<\/p>\n
A professional makeup artist and trainer with over nine years of experience, Roselyn has trained more than 1,000 students and plans to open a school to equip more young women with vocational skills. \u201cThis is a message to every young person that skills can lead to freedom, independence, and a better future,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n
Hon. Gomashie, reflecting on her own background in theatre, music, and costume, called for stronger national investment in the creative economy. She encouraged the Ghana Tourism Development Company and other agencies to work with Roselyn to promote Ghanaian artistry globally. \u201cLet\u2019s not keep her award hidden away\u2014we must showcase her story to the world,\u201d she urged.<\/p>\n
Present at the ceremony were Prof. Kobby Mensah, Acting CEO of the Ghana Tourism Development Company, Chief Director of MoTCCA, Joseph K. Amoah, and other senior officials, who commended Roselyn\u2019s dedication and impact.<\/p>\n
The Minister concluded with a call to action: \u201cFrom fashion and food to music and makeup, our culture is what sets us apart. Supporting local talent is not just a gesture\u2014it\u2019s a strategic investment in Ghana\u2019s development.\u201d
