Gomashie conveyed warm felicitations on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama and the people of Ghana to President Donald J. Trump and the American people. In a speech laced with goodwill and shared aspirations, she applauded the United States for its enduring commitment to liberty, democracy, and innovation\u2014values that have anchored its global leadership for nearly two and a half centuries.<\/p>\n<p>She paid tribute to the strong and evolving Ghana\u2013U.S. relationship, which she described as \u201crooted in mutual respect, shared democratic ideals, and robust economic collaboration.\u201d Hon. Gomashie highlighted the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) as a cornerstone of this partnership, noting its significant contributions to Ghana\u2019s export growth, particularly in the textile, agriculture, and value-added manufacturing sectors. AGOA, she said, has empowered small and medium-sized Ghanaian enterprises to access global markets and contribute meaningfully to the country\u2019s economic development.<br \/>\nIn a poignant reflection, Hon. Gomashie quoted both President Trump and the late Ghanaian statesman Kofi Annan, reinforcing the importance of international cooperation and shared humanity in addressing global challenges. She concluded her remarks with optimism about the future of Ghana\u2013U.S. relations, emphasizing the importance of people-to-people connections and inclusive development.<\/p>\n<p>The Charge d\u2019Affaires of US Embassy Ghana, Rolf Olson in turn, welcomed guests to the celebration and expressed appreciation to the sponsors and partners who supported the event. Drawing historical parallels between the U.S. and Ghana\u2014both former colonies now thriving democracies\u2014the speaker noted the symbolic convergence of the U.S. Independence Day with Ghana\u2019s Founders\u2019 Day, both observed on July 4.<br \/>\nThe address also referenced recent political transitions in both countries, where former presidents were re-elected after defeating sitting vice presidents, illustrating the dynamic and resilient nature of democratic governance.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Olson reaffirmed the strong partnership between the two nations in sectors including health, agriculture, education, security, and trade.
