Accra, July 4, 2025 \u2014 Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on an official visit to Ghana, paid a solemn tribute to Ghana\u2019s founding President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra on Thursday.
\nThe Prime Minister was received and warmly welcomed by Ghana\u2019s Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, who led him on a guided tour of the historic site. He was accompanied during the visit by Ghana\u2019s Vice President, H.E. Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the first female Vice President of the Republic.4<\/p>\n
As part of the visit, Prime Minister Modi laid wreaths at the tombs of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his wife, Fathia Nkrumah, in honour of their enduring legacy in Ghana\u2019s independence and Africa\u2019s liberation movement. The symbolic gesture reflected the longstanding friendship and solidarity between India and Ghana.
\nThe Acting Executive Director of the Park, Dr. Collins Nunyoname Rawlings, was also present to receive the delegation. He provided historical context on the Park\u2019s significance and its central role in preserving the memory of Ghana\u2019s struggle for independence.<\/p>\n
