ASSIN MANSO, Ghana \u2013 August 1, 2025 \u2014 Ghana\u2019s Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has urged global solidarity for reparative justice and Pan-African unity at the close of this year\u2019s Emancipation Day durbar in Assin Manso.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the durbar, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie emphasized that the commemoration must go beyond remembrance to transformative action. \u201cWe honour their pain, but more importantly, we draw power from their endurance,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Held under the theme \u201cLet Us Speak of Reparative Justice \u2013 Pan-African Artistic Activism,\u201d the event highlighted the power of culture and creativity in addressing historical injustices. The week-long programme, jointly organized with PANAFEST, featured cultural performances, forums, and tributes to figures like Efua Sutherland.<\/p>\n
Hon. Gomashie welcomed participants from the African diaspora as returning family, not visitors, and spotlighted The Black Star Experience, a key initiative promoting Ghana as a hub for heritage tourism and cultural healing. She also praised the role of youth, artists, and traditional leaders in reshaping Africa\u2019s narrative.<\/p>\n
Central Regional Minister Hon. Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Oyere called for accountable leadership and national development, while acknowledging former President John Dramani Mahama\u2019s contributions to nation-building. Other speakers included Guest of Honour Nana Oworaba Obentsen, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority Maame Efua Houadjeto, and Barima Kwame Nkyi XIII, Paramount Chief of the Assin Apimanim Traditional Area, among other distinguished officials.<\/p>\n
