Abla Dzifa Gomashie Inaugurates National Film Authority Governing Board, Calls for Industry Transformation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Accra, Ghana &#8211; August 5, 2025<br \/>\nThe Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has inaugurated the newly constituted Governing Board of the National Film Authority (NFA) with a stirring call for collective effort to redefine and grow Ghana\u2019s film industry.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the swearing ceremony at the Ministry\u2019s Conference Room in Accra, Hon. Gomashie emphasized the need for integrity, focus, and unity of purpose in shaping the future of the sector. She highlighted film as a powerful vehicle for cultural diplomacy and economic growth, urging the board to rise above challenges and lead by example.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGhana is not a tangible thing. We are Ghana,\u201d she stated. \u201cWe have the potential and opportunity to let it shine through whatever we choose to do. With unity of purpose, we can change the narrative and leave a legacy we will be proud of.\u201d Hon. Gomashie expressed optimism that with the expertise and passion of the board, Ghana\u2019s film sector could become a beacon of cultural storytelling and a driver of job creation and national pride.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister cautioned board members about the pressures of leadership but encouraged them to remain steadfast in their mandate to advance the film industry. \u201cBe prepared for what you\u2019ll face,\u201d she advised, \u201cbut remember that once you stay the course, the challenges will not derail you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chairperson of the new board, Ivan Quashigah, described the appointment as a call to shape the future of Ghanaian cinema and reignite public interest in local films. He identified distribution and exhibition as major hurdles facing the industry and called for stronger collaboration with film guilds and associations.<br \/>\n\u201cWe must ensure our films are widely seen and appreciated,\u201d Quashigah noted. \u201cIf even 1% of Ghanaians watch every film produced here, we can begin unlocking the industry\u2019s full potential.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The newly inaugurated board includes, Ivan Quashigah (Chairperson), Kafui Danku Pitcher, Oladele Kwaku Aribike, Mabel Cudjoe, Emmanuel Ofori, Dr. Rebecca Ohene-Asah, Augustine Abbey, George Bosompem, Aseye Tamakloe, Zakaria Abdulai, Rukiyatu Naa Ayikaley Ankrah, and Alejandro P.D White-Cross, all distinguished members from various sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The inauguration marked a renewed effort by the government and industry stakeholders to foster collaboration, create jobs, and ensure Ghanaian stories take their rightful place on global screens.<br \/>\nThe event was also attended by the Directors of the Ministry, led by the Chief Director, Mr. Joseph Kwasi Amoah.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Accra, Ghana &#8211; August 5, 2025 The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon.
