Accra, Ghana – 16th February, 2026 – The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening cultural cooperation with Burkina Faso following a courtesy call by the Burkina Faso Ambassador to Ghana.
Welcoming the delegation at the Ministry, the Minister expressed appreciation for the longstanding cultural relations between the two countries and apologized for her inability to attend a cultural event in Burkina Faso last year due to prior official engagements. She explained that the Ministry ensured Ghana’s participation through the Chief Director and representatives from the Centre for National Culture, underscoring that the absence was not out of disregard but due to unavoidable scheduling constraints.
During the meeting, H.E. David Kabré, the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Ghana officially informed the Minister of two major upcoming cultural events in Burkina Faso, the National Culture Week scheduled for April 25 to May 2, 2026, and the 18th International Art and Craft Fair of the Salon International de l’Artisanat de Ouagadougou to be held from October 30 to November 8, 2026. He indicated that formal invitations and participation guidelines had already been submitted to the Government of Ghana and requested feedback on Ghana’s participation.
H.E Kabré further announced that Burkina Faso’s Minister responsible for culture is expected to visit Ghana from March 1 to March 4, 2026 to provide additional information on the events and also explore opportunities for deeper cultural cooperation between the two countries.
Both parties emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration in promoting cultural exchange, creative arts development and regional integration through participation in shared cultural programmes and initiatives.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah; the Chief Director, Mr. Joseph K. Amoah; Director for Tourism, Dr. Geoffrey Tamakloe; Director for Human Resource Management, Mr. Otto Langmagne; and Director for Culture and Creative Arts, Mr. Divine Owusu-Ansah.
